Aveo making a difference

Tuesday 21 December 2021

Aveo communities from across Australia have rallied to the cause of breast cancer research, raising more than $67,000 for PA Research Foundation's Project Pink campaign.

60 Aveo communities held fundraising events with many residents in communities who were unable to host physical events this year, generously making personal donations.

Aveo Group partners with Project Pink each October during breast cancer awareness month, hosting a range of fundraising events such as morning teas, luncheons, raffles and more.

Aveo Albany Creek was the highest fundraising community this year, raising more than $7,400 for the cause.

Aveo Group employee Stephen Turner completed his own fundraising challenge for the fifth consecutive year in 2021, raising more than $1,760 by riding more than 300kms around the Gold Coast through October. Mr Turner completed the challenge and surpassed his fundraising total by more than $1,000.

"Aveo Group and the residents of Aveo have now raised over $1.1 million dollars for breast cancer research since we first partnered with them in 2016. To raise such an amount in such a short period of time is an amazing achievement and we cannot thank every single resident enough," said PA Research Foundation Chief Executive Officer Damian Topp.

"Aveo Group's support of Project Pink has been crucial in helping us fund the research of Associate Professor Fiona Simpson and her lab from the University of Queensland's Diamantina Institute, and their studies into and treating breast cancer with combination therapy."

This very promising research has been greatly advanced by Aveo's support of Project Pink and we are hopeful that in the near future it will help save thousands of lives.

Each October we know we can count on the residents of Aveo, as well as Aveo Group and its staff to do their best to help us empower researchers to find new treatments for breast cancer. Their support really does mean the world to us."

Aveo will again support the Project Pink cause in October 2022.
