Aveo communities around Australia have gone pink during October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in support of Project Pink.
2019 marks the fourth year Aveo Group have partnered with the PA Research Foundation to support Project Pink, with over $700,000 raised over the four years in support of breast cancer research.
The campaign commenced on October 1, with a pink buzz sweeping the 94 communities. There was a range of inspiring pink events across the board including morning teas, fashion parades, market stall days, pink lunches, bake-offs, and more! Communities, residents and staff were united in pink; embracing the campaign in full force over the month.
Members of the Project Pink team team were fortunate enough to travel across the country, visiting many of the wonderful communities and events in Queensland, New South Wales, Adelaide, Victoria and Tasmania. The team shared updates on the research funded in 2019 and were moved to hear stories from many residents whose lives have been touched by breast cancer; a poignant reminder of the importance of the Project Pink campaign.
Aveo Group's fundraising in 2019 has directly helped to fund new breast cancer research projects, through the Breast Cancer Institute. The funds raised will support the research component of the institute, which is largely looking into breast cancer imaging and mammographic density to aid with better diagnosis' and treatment options for those faced with the disease. The Breast Cancer Institute aims to be a national leader within the industry - with a team of fantastic clinicians and researchers on board.
The fundraising continued well into November, with the total funds still being tallied.
Thank you to all of the wonderful communities and Aveo Group for your continued support of breast cancer research at the PA Hospital.
