ALH Project Pink goes off with a (pink) bang!

The Allied Leisure and Hospitality Group (ALH) have launched their 9th Project Pink campaign and are off to a flying fundraising start!

The collective group of 123 ALH venues have already raised more than $2.1m for Project Pink over the course of these 9 years and will look to edge closer to $2.5m after this year's campaigning. A truly incredible achievement.

Where do these funds go?

These funds are supporting innovative research into breast cancer at the PA Hospital Campus – home of the world's first cancer vaccine.

Thanks to Project Pink, there is currently a world first clinical trial underway at the PA Hospital which is trialling a new drug combination therapy in humans for the very first time. This could provide a new treatment option for the aggressive triple negative and HER2 positive breast cancer.

The 2017 Project Pink campaign was also able to fund two innovative new breast cancer research projects which are looking to increase treatment options by repurposing drugs in a new combination therapy and learn more about why mammographic density correlates to breast cancer risk.

What is happening this year?

There have already been a number of fantastic events since the campaign kicked off on Mother's Day, with the Breakfast Creek Hotel raising more than $4,500 at their Annual 70s Luncheon (attended by Project Pink ambassador Georgina Lewis) and Forest Lake Hotel hosted their entertainment packed High Tea event. We also have more High Teas, Drag Queens and Pub Olympics all organised at various venues.

In addition, fundraising is well and truly underway online, with Kirwan Tavern championing Project Pink through their Club50 initiative – they have already raised more than $1,520, what an achievement! The new and improved online fundraising portal for Project Pink is open to any individual or group who would like to help champion the cause to put a STOP to people dying from breast cancer. You can find out more information at

Every day more events are registered through Project Pink so be sure to check out our Facebook and Instagram page to see what is happening in your area.

Project Pink Road Trip

Keep your eyes peeled for the new and improved Pink Van which our Project Pink extraordinaire, Sharnie, will call 'home' for the next few months as she begins the Project Pink Road Trip. Sharnie will be visiting all 123 Venues before the end of the campaign so stay tuned for when the van will be in your local area.

This all sounds great! How can I help?

This year alone it is estimated that more than 17,000 women and men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and sadly, more than 3000 patients will pass away from this disease. There is still much to do; Project Pink is determined to put a STOP to breast cancer. The good news is that we can all be a part of making a real difference to these statistics by raising awareness of breast cancer and funds for cutting edge research.

You can support Project Pink by visiting your local ALH Venue or setting up your very own online fundraising page. If you are interested in championing this cause with us, we would love to hear from you! We have lots of pink ideas to get you started. Help us make pink a pretty colour again and put a STOP to women, and men, dying from breast cancer.
