Sharnie's Top Stops - Week 1

Monday 19 June 2017

Project Pink Donor Steward Sharnie is busy working her way around all of the Queensland/Northern NSW ALH Venues - here are her top stops from Week 1 of the Road Trip!

#1 Pacific Pines Hotel

I met with Scott and Stacey and they were very warm and welcoming! They had a pink hamper set on the bar and selling raffles for this. They are setting up a huge pink wall and Scott is calling me to pop back in when its done! He did let me know he had a large goal to hit for fundraising this year and is VERY motivated following Fiona's speech at the launch. Scott is also looking at making his own Project Pink shirts for staff to wear and is really going above and beyond!

Stacey the manager on duty was also very friendly and more than happy to share her stories and experiences with breast cancer in her family.

#2 Hinterland Hotel

The team at the Hinterland Hotel have a lot going on which is so great! They have made their own money tins to go around the bars and the staff walk around with these over the weekends. The choccies are set on the bar and are available for a gold coin donation, which is a great way to raise additional funds.

They also have raffles over the weekends and the team get out into the crowd to sell them! The girls were very friendly and were happy to take some funny snaps with our Project Pink props! A stand out venue!!

#3 South Tweed Tavern

Sheridan definitely made South Tweed one of the top stops this week! South Tweed is a locals pub and she has sold each regular customer a plush duck and a key ring! The venue is decorated nicely too!

Sheridan was super friendly, helped out with the Q&A Blog for the venue and even made me a coffee for the long drive home.

Sheridan also mentioned she was considering shaving her head to raise extra money, which is amazing!! Great work Sheridan!

#4 Surfers Paradise Tavern

I met with Emily the Functions Manager and she shared all of the venues great ideas for fundraising!! They have already raised over $800 from the Mother's Day raffles.

They also serve jelly shots on the weekend with money going towards Project Pink. The girls are working with Woolworths downstairs who are providing pink cakes to sell every Friday for their Pink Fridays and all staff get involved to wear pink!

During origin, they are selling 2 football jersery raffles at $5 per ticket. The staff also walk around selling these over the weekend! Such a great effort!!

#5 Varsity Lakes

I met with Kayla from Varsity Lakes Tavern and they have done something quite different with a Ken barbie doll on the bars to help raise money. Kayla brought the ken barbie and dressed it up and if they raise $2000 Rob will dress in drag! Such a great and fun idea so definitely one of the top stops for this week! The venue was also decorated so well and when I walked in there was a big sign letting customers know some of the money from their coffee will be given to Project Pink.

Stay tuned for more updates from the road!
